Life in Darkness is an independent 501(c)(3) California nonprofit public benefit corporation (EIN 33-1336378). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information submitted through this website.

We collect only the information you voluntarily submit through our forms. Depending on the form, this may include:

Name, email address, phone number, inquiry type, and message content (contact and inquiry forms); volunteer background narrative and area of interest (serve application); parent or guardian name, youth first name, email, and age band selection (youth cohort pre-registration); agency name, title, and department (agency inquiry).

We do not collect information passively. This site does not use analytics, tracking pixels, cookies, third-party embeds, advertising, localStorage, or sessionStorage. All fonts are self-hosted. No data is transmitted to any third party by visiting this site.

Form submissions are processed through Netlify Forms and delivered to Contact@lifeindarkness.org. Every form requires explicit consent before submission. No form submits without the consent checkbox selected.

Information submitted through our forms is used solely to respond to your inquiry, route you to the appropriate formation pathway, process your volunteer application, or complete your youth cohort pre-registration. We do not use submitted information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose beyond the stated intent of the form.

We do not sell, share, rent, or disclose personal information to any third party. Form data is accessible only to authorized Life in Darkness staff through the Netlify dashboard and the organization's email.

Youth cohort pre-registration is submitted by a parent or guardian. A minor's information is not collected directly through this site. The pre-registration form collects the parent or guardian's name and email as the primary contact, along with the youth's first name and age band for cohort placement.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any information you have submitted. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@lifeindarkness.org.

Additional provisions covering federal victim-confidentiality obligations and our data retention schedule are in development with counsel and will be published here on completion.
