Formation Before the Pressure Arrives
Formation programs for teenagers are typically priced beyond what most families will spend on something that is not a sport or a test score. Thirty-six young people in Canyon Lake receive a six-week formation cohort at no cost to their families. Grit to Genius™ builds cognitive sovereignty, emotional regulation, and effort tolerance — the capacity to think independently, stay composed under pressure, and stay with hard things. Life in Darkness funds and delivers it. The curriculum is licensed from EQGenix Inc.
Three Age Bands
12–13, 14–15, 16–17. Each band receives age-calibrated curriculum. Twelve participants per band — small enough to build trust, large enough to build community.
Six-Week Cycle
Structured formation delivered weekly across six weeks. Not a drop-in program — a cohort with a beginning, middle, and end.

Canyon Lake, Fall 2026. Thirty-six seats across three age bands. Pre-registration open to Canyon Lake families.
How We Protect Your Child
Background Screening
All facilitators and volunteers undergo background check and LiveScan fingerprint screening, reference checks, and are subject to a code of conduct.
Mandated Reporting
All adults in contact with youth participants complete mandated reporter training and are bound by California reporting obligations.
Parental Consent
Written parental consent and youth assent are required before participation. Parents receive program details, session schedules, and facilitator information in advance.
Scope of Service
Life in Darkness does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or clinical services. Acute concerns are routed to 988 and to licensed providers. This is formation, not intervention.
